TOTMAS is an annual hands-on surgical training symposium led by Prof Koto, focusing on practical skills, operative strategy, and problem-solving in Minimally Access Surgery (MAS). The course brings together expert national and international speakers who teach key principles, advanced techniques, and tips that improve safety, efficiency, and outcomes in laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures.
Each year covers different themed content—ranging from basic laparoscopic skills and suturing, to advanced HPB, colorectal, bariatric, and emergency MIS approaches. Through lectures, live demonstrations, and interactive case-based sessions, TOTMAS provides a high-yield platform for registrars and consultants to refine operative judgment, adopt new technologies, and master the “tricks of the trade” essential for modern MAS practice.

The TOTMAS programme offers a comprehensive range of surgical topics, spanning Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), colorectal, vascular, trauma, bariatric, endocrine, upper gastrointestinal (GIT), and hernia surgery. It also includes important sessions on ethics and a variety of other specialised and miscellaneous subjects, ensuring well-rounded surgical exposure and training.
The programme features a distinguished mix of local and international expert speakers, bringing diverse perspectives, cutting-edge insights, and extensive surgical experience to enrich the learning experience.
